Happy Holidays

On behalf of the Board of Directors I would like to wish everyone the best of the holiday season and thank you all for your support of the Buckingham Pond Conservancy. We have come along way over the last five years and could not have accomplished our goals without your financial and moral support.

Barton & Loguidice, the engineering firm that we retained to study the Pond, has now completed their work. We have a list of mitigation strategies that, together with all of our partners in the City of Albany, the Board of Directors can now begin to plan the funding and execution of the many projects that will target improving the water quality and restoring our Pond to its pristine state.

We will outline all details of the recommendations on our website soon after the Holidays so you can see all of the details. The real work begins now and we will need all the help we can get. So, if interested in helping or joining the board, please contact me.

We are really excited about the future of Buckingham Pond and look forward to working along with all of you to restore our jewel.

Dear Resident of CSA #28,

Welcome and thank you again for signing up for email communications relevant to you and your neighborhood. Spread the word about this email communication service by forwarding this to your neighbors in case they have not yet had the chance to sign up!

As I mentioned in my prior advisories there are Internal Revenue Service (IRS) phone scams actively taking place stating the following:
you owe taxes,
a warrant is issued for your arrest
or the police will be arriving at your residence.
I would just like to inform everyone that these calls are still coming in to various neighborhoods. If you do receive one of these calls, do not call back or give any personal information. Ignore the message or just hang up The following numbers have been recently used
202-459-1993 ( Wash DC suburb apartment complex)
530-721-8098 (apartment building in South Tahoe Calf.)
876-881-3903 (Jamaica)
Remember the IRS does not phone, send emails (text messages) for notification. They will send you an official letter.

Also another note of concern; recently this department was investigating an unknown male last week on Colonial Av going door to door pretending to be a representative from the IRS, trying obtain personal information. If anyone is a victim of this type of scam or has/had contact with this individual please notify the police immediately.

If anyone has any questions/concerns feel free to respond to this email.

Update on swing set at playground

Correspondence between Buckingham Pond Conservancy and Albany DGS
Recreation and Playground Equipment
Buckingham Pond Playground
One of the swing sets has been missing for months--this is a well used and busy park. There were issues with too many kids vying for only 4 swings before--now that there are only 2 swings it's even worse. Please replace ASAP.

Receration Admin wrote:
The swing was damaged by an auto accident, we are currently waiting for the payment from the insurance company to replace the swing. It should be replaced by the beginning of Spring, we apologize for the inconvenience.
